The nWo won the coin toss and got the man advantage for the next two minute period of the match, and this resulted in Hall and Nash beating down Arn for two minutes. nWo angle hearing Dusty Rhodes sell the importance of this match as he said “I can’t believe I’m pulling for Arn Anderson”, considering that Dusty had been mauled by Arn and the Horsemen in a War Games match. It was ironic and highly indicative of the WCW vs. Hall started the match and for the first five minutes Arn held his own and fought off Hall as they traded blows and holds. As dominoes fell and the nWo grew with new members after new members there was a sense of who’s next to turn amongst the WCW locker room. His move to the shadows was preceded by growing distrust within the WCW roster. For over a year Sting did not wrestle a match, he hid out, made run-ins, and was by-large the only thing that the nWo feared. The transition of Sting from surfer-dude babyface to a brooding, darkly clad, almost tweener character who fought the nWo in a guerrilla war that called for Sting to hide in the rafters and drop in to take his shots on the heels as he could.
